Haven't done it myself but another solution could be to rig the jigs under a float. Many people do this when they are drifting and have pretty good success

I've caught them from Olivers hill up to Morngington at pretty much any time of the day. Usually white jigs have worked best. I've found that usually there is one patch within the weed patch that will consistently fire over each drift.... So you need to cover a bit of ground to find where they are.

Have you got enough room to mount something on the top left of the dash where you have that flat ledge? You could possibly wedge a sounder in there if the angle of the windscreen isn't to much (looks like it might be). I wouldn't mound a sounder on the other side, if you are using it like you should...

I did a charter with Matt Cini and watched his sounder as we cruised around. He was running the 1kw transducer and I have to say the feedback on the screen was pretty impressive.
