Re: What's in your too hard basket?

Mastering garfish with float set up.... just buy the pre made rigs from bcf and off you go, its probably the easiest fish to catch, and great fun for kids as well.. Tryed that plenty of times no good.... I feel you bowl... Something that looks so easy to others can be the hardest thing for us. Henc...

Re: Trout lures/flies discussion

The only area where I consider myself experienced when it comes to trout is small streams. Lately for lures I've been running the Daiwa DR minnow as my first choice and then vary the colour with conditions. However, a big part of the reason I did the lure challenge vid was to show that in small str...

Re: What's in your too hard basket?

Going back a couple of posts about catching garfish and the conversation regarding hooks and bait I'm going to mention that you don't need a hook or bait to catch them. All you need is a few lengths of either red or white hool tied directly to your line. No hooks, no bait and no weight or at best, ...

Re: Trout lures/flies discussion

Some great info guys. I'm on a very steep learning curve reading this thread , , , , great thread. Just a question , , , , I know that trout can eat their young and imitating that can work well (at certain times) and they do this for as a food source. But one repeated notion is sometimes the aggres...

Re: Anyone could take me fishing for squid please!

Jason if those southern end piers are too far for you to go to, try Beaumaris or even mordialloc piers mate. I have caught plenty of nice squid from both those piers  My biggest squid (45cm hood) and most squid caught in a session (15) were down at beaumauris, it's a beautiful little spot...

Re: Beach fishing around PPB?

Hi All Since it's nearing winter and the salmon are beginning to show up, I wanted to have a go at fishing from the beach. It looks like heaps of fun, but since I'm in bayside and I don't have my own car yet getting to an ideal place like Gunnamatta or Venus bay is pretty much off the table unfortu...

Re: Fisherman's beach, Mornington 18/05/2019

Slightly up north past Mornington pier but they have been showing up at the pier too. Got a few from boat too but its something like 1 whiting to 20 pinkies. It's been pretty consistent lately though. Around this time last year was getting them around mordi-beaumaris too off the beach. Landbased is...

Re: Winter fishing

I do the vast majority of my fishing in the Kyneton lakes and usually do quite well, but I usually hung up my fishing gear from about this time of year until mid-September. What is the fishing like over winter, especially in lakes? Where do people go? Are the rivers better than the lakes? Any answe...

The whiting are actually around in good numbers but you need to get past those pinkies. After dark has been doing well (landbased)
Would you share where that landbased place? :P ;-) :notworthy:
I am desperate to get some whitings!
