Re: Land-based SP tactics around Avalon?

Yep, went out on the weekend. Really beautiful spot, but as you guys said, very weedy and shallow. No bites. At low tide, you could wade out for 100+ meters, and it'd only be up to your waist. You can see on google maps there are some rocks out from the point which are submerged at high tide. You co...

Re: Land-based SP tactics around Avalon?

Uhuh. Thanks for the tips. Might try Brighton next if Avalon doesn't pan out. It's just a bit of a hike is all.

Re: Land-based SP tactics around Avalon?

Yep, got a shimano catana w/matching reel, set up with 6lb braid. Using an 8lm mono leader of about the length of the rod. Been using different lures, but we got a whole variety incl. curl tails and paddle tails. In addition to Gulp we use Zman and Squidgies, but probably more Gulp than anything. Ha...

Land-based SP tactics around Avalon?

G'day all, Ok so me and a buddy have been really struggling to make land based SP fishing work. Come up with donuts the last couple of outings we've had (around Altona and Werribee). Anyway, we were gonna have a crack around Avalon this weekend. Down around the college and foreshore. Never been ther...

Re: Low-tide SP/lure tactics

Ohh yeah so around the altona coastal park? Or did you mean south of the boat ramp. Never tried round there, but looks good from the old google maps. Says there's a marine santuary to the north so I guess ill look up maps of where that starts.

Low-tide SP/lure tactics

Yo, this might seem like a bit of a newbie question (and in fact, maybe it is...) But what are some good tactics for low tide lure based fishing? I've always managed to time trips with the high tide. But I'm itching to wet a line, and there's no way I'mma get out for the high tide this weekend. I wa...

Re: Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party Victoria Rep

Who do you guys preference? You aren't about to get your own people elected, so the only way you are gonna have political power is by making deals. Votes for policy... and if the rest of your platform is anything to go by, I'm betting you preference Nats/Liberals and maybe even One Nation types. Whi...

Sandridge Lookout, Beach and Rock Groynes

G'day all, thinking of wandering down to the general Sandridge area to flick some lures about this weekend. Did a quick search on these forums, but not much to go on. Anyone had any luck there in the past or tips on what to expect/prepare for? This general vicinity... http://s15.postimg.org/oub4iegp...

Re: Lure fishing off the beach - equipment advice?

Cool. You guys rock. I actually have a Shimano Catana paired with a 2500 reel, but I wasn't too crazy about the range I was getting on it... but based on this info, that probably says more about my casting and the lures/jig heads I'm using. Might pair my 4000 reel with something a little bigger, for...
