Caught most of my fish on west side of pier. Not sure why. Have caught it all along the pier but only a few metres out seems to be popular spot.
Good old paternoster rig does the trick. However mostly get undersized flatties and pinkies. Still good fun.

Being new to surf fishing myself. I highly recommend you get some cheap waders if fishing in cold conditions. ~$40 from anaconda. It's a much more pleasant experience. Tried getting away with just gum boots and waterproof pants but always ended up a gum boot full of sand and water and cold and wet f...

Was at St Leonards pier sunday, saw a few caught. Not very big though. Most taken on white jigs and as the light was fading.

I've only fished there a few times but don't recommend the little jetty close to the car park if you're seasick. Not fun when a speed boat passes!

Also got snagged there and lost two rigs.

My friend caught a whiting just the other day near the red pylon closest to that jetty though.
