Re: Sounder for kayak angling.

Garmin Striker 7SV. $599 in current bargain boat bits catalogue. No maps unless you create your own, but does everything else (and in my opinion better than Lowrance of equivilant value). Any idea what transducer I should be looking at if I want to be able to pick up enough detail in 150m to easily...

Re: Sounder for kayak angling.

What went wrong various electrical issues. first one wouldn't turn on, second one stopped reading the depth properly (not a transducer issue, it did the same thing on my other kayak with a different transducer), third was the same. I've got a hook 5 on one kayak and a Garmin stryker 5 on the other....

Re: Sounder for kayak angling.

I’ve been through 3 lowrance sounders in less than 12 months, not sure if they’re cut out for kayak fishing.

Re: Show us your purchases!

I thought I needed some line with a bit more finesse for all the breaming I've been doing lately https://i.imgur.com/oxP0pJt.jpg It's actually thinner than the 30lb Rovex braid i have on all my gummy/snapper/kingy setups despite having almost 3 times the breaking strain. Is it expensive bream-buste...

Re: 60 ft deep

I got a bunch in 45m by putting a sinker on the egi snap as well as a jig and dropping it to the bottom. I noticed the drag had to be up a fair bit more than for calamari or they just dropped off, I think because they're a lot tougher bodied and the barbs don't bite in far enough with a light drag.

Questions
Do the Americans waters get as choppy as ours and do they take them out to sea?
And what water condition are they designed for?
A lot of those US kayaks are designed to be peddle powered bass boats and are typically used on lakes.

Re: Scotty Kayak Stabilizers
