Re: Should there be Boat Catch limits?

Why people suggest closed seasons on fish that show no signs of needing a closed season is beyond me. As for most estuary species. The min size needs to be lifted 3-5cm across the board. Then maybe. Just maybe as a collective we would have bigger fish before they are harvested. Who actually knows i...

Caught them on shrimp I caught while there and some very expensive cheese the missus will kill me for using when she finds out.

Turtles were a problem on the shrimp.

First Cod

For a change I actually got away for the weekend and headed up the the Murray River. Took the trailer set up the awning tent and headed up after work on Friday. Set up camp around 6:30pm and put the first line out. 2 mins later a small Murray Cod @ 40cm on the bank. I was pretty happy with myself as...

Re: motorguide trolling motor

I've been through 3 Minn Kota's (55lb/12V) and wouldn't buy another one. For the cost I go with Watersnake. There not any better or worse just half the price. I used mine a lot so about 3 years was the best I got out of one. That hate travelling too. The shaking around on the road plays havoc with t...

Re: Moving axles forward advice.

I had a 5 m Quinnie Fishmaster with a 70 HP Evinrude for a long time so very similar to your rig. The Quinnie towed well with about 45-50 kg on the tow ball. I also support the idea of shifting the winch post as long as you do not get a lot of overhang at the stern of the boat. You should not have ...

Re: Buying a boat

Positives of open boats - more flexibility in types of fishing. Lure casting ect. Negatives - you are restricted by the weather. Any sort of wind and you will get wet. I sold my center console after having it for 10 years fishing all over the WA coast. Most of my fishing was lure based (had Minn kot...

One of the best things about summer in WA - Crabbing.

Scoop net and a tub would find you a feed.

Re: Daiwa Aird X 2500SH

I have the Aird 2500 and have given it a good thrashing over the last 2-3 years. The reel still performs well but looks rough cosmetically. Bit heavier than the Stradic Ci4 but excellent drag for the price. I have the Freams too (older model) which I would pick over both but they are more coin. If y...

Re: Hazelwood to open for fishing 9th Dec

Keen for a look but worries about the crowds as land based will be my only option.
Might see how people go this weekend as I'm sure there will be plenty of talk on here/FB if it goes off.
Would be a good time to organize a midweek visit to one of my work sites out that way I think....
