Re: Media Release: Wild trout conference approaching fast
As Jim pointed out, I think that's the biggest issue threatening trout is they're just not suited to our environment, (some alpine streams with self sustaining populations are the obvious exception) Everytime there's a heatwave I read of trout numbers being desimated, apparently the removal of intro...

Re: Media Release: Wild trout conference approaching fast
I think trout are good for humanity. If we're honest most of us would accept that an introduced fish is much like a bad father or a bad husband... Not withstanding it's faults you find it tends to do more good than harm. It might be an introduced species but at least it's providing entertainment fo...

Re: Media Release: Wild trout conference approaching fast
As strong an opinion as I have on this, I really cbf getting involved in all the pro native/pro environment vs. pro trout pissing contest that developed in the locked thread, so all I'll say is this; At the end of the day, no matter how much everyone argues, for better or worse, trout are here to st...

Re: Anaconda Gift card, what to get?
My baitcast combo for natives is a Shimano Curado and 6-10kg Impact nano xt, would definitely recommend either of them and the Barra/river/cod raiders get a good wrap too, any of the rods would be covered by the voucher but I'm not sure what the curado's are going for ATM though.

Re: Anyone keen or interested in doing a NT trip
I'd be pretty tempted if I didn't have so much on my plate ATM. But definitely do it, spent a week up there around this time last year and a day of that was chasing Barra, easily one of my best days fishing and one of my mates Madeira into the Darwin newspaper with his 94cm model, can't wait to do i...

Doesn't really matter if it has eggs or not, a dead carps eggs can't be fertilised, it's a myth.

No worries mate, if you find some good access I've seen some good size reddies pulled out up that way.

Re: Yarra this morning
A mates Yarra yella from a couple of years ago, 2 of us had peppered the area with spinner baits for a while for nothing while he screwed around then throws out a soft plastic and land a nice yella first cast. Bigwatkins knows where to find Browns in the plenty but it's only accessible through priva...

Re: Yarra this morning
I think you'll struggle with reddies in that stretch, never seen or heard of any through there. Mainly small bait stealing maccas, cod, carp and the odd yella.
The reddies seem to be further up around Yarra Glen and above from what I've seen.
