Bait balls at St leonards..

I went for a fish at St leonards Wednesday night, the pilchard balls were in less than 2 foot of water, two large schools just circling, would not move into deeper water, I walked out onto the pier and looked over, it became apparent why the bait schools would not move, I saw schools of salmon cruis...

Prawns would jump out pretty easy I reckon?


Its perfect to store everything, large bucket, a coat if it gets cold drinks and snacks..just tows behind while I walk, and the battery if you still use those, I have an LED set up now.

My guess is a very large squid, it was on a float well off the bottom and the bite looked like a very large beak had taken to it.

Late report I fished st leonards pier Thursday night, took home two whiting @ 40cm and one pinkie @ 35cm... released 8 pinkies just under size and 6 banjo's. Also had a wooden squid spike out with a whole tommy rough bitten in half snapped right through the wood !
